Financial Analyst

Position Summary

The main functions of the Financial Analyst are to gather and analyze financial information; will typically conduct quantitative analyses of information affecting the organization and its subsidiaries. The Financial Analyst is responsible for analyzing and communicating financial information along with assisting in the preparation of routine financial analysis, the annual operating costs and capital budgets, maintenance of databases and reporting.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

The essential functions include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Review and analyze financial statements, General Ledger accounts and reports
  • Be a key strategic partner for our manufacturing leadership team, interacting with operations teams
  • Partner with Finance teams from other locations to perform monthly and quarterly close responsibilities; includes preparing presentations and monthly reports including key metrics, financial results, and variance reporting
  • Prepare and present insightful analysis to support leadership in decision-making
  • Conduct variance analysis to forecast, track KPIs, and identifying opportunities for improvement
  • Consolidate and build financial plans for the Operations organization; includes collecting and tracking headcount, operating and capital expenses
  • Provides analytical, forecasting, reporting, and project support to senior management
  • Support and participate in ad-hoc analysis on business performance and analysis for logistics, manufacturing, and other strategic business decisions for Lafayette and other manufacturing locations
  • Integral position in the annual budgeting and forecasting process providing understanding and alignment across broader finance teams and locations
  • Apply analytical skills to interpret financial results, determine issues critical to the success of operations and identify opportunities for performance improvement across the organization
  • Analyze current processes and structures to provide recommendations for continuous improvement and efficiencies
  • Implement and/or develop financial models, standardization and reporting automation to drive business decisions and continuous improvement to finance tasks
  • Support the annual planning process, develop and build financial projections and models with assistance of CFO
  • Develop processes to enable an efficient completion of routine monthly and quarterly deliverables
  • Prepare narratives, graphs, and other financial analysis
  • Develop a network of contacts across the company to benchmark and implement best practices

Minimum Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities)

Required Education/Licenses/Certification

  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or Finance or related degree
  • Must maintain a valid driver's license and the ability to meet the minimum requirements for insurance.
  • One plus years' finance or accounting business experience
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills for working with and explaining financial data to employees at a variety of levels in an organization
  • Strong interpersonal skills in engaging with others and learning their area of the business
  • Ability to work in and lead team projects when needed cross functionally within the business
  • Strong analytical skills to gather data from multiple sources and report findings
  • Ability to take initiative and work independently
  • Expert at proficiency with advanced features of Microsoft Office software products (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint)

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Two plus years' related experience
  • Experience working with ERP systems
  • Financial analysis ability such as return on investment, IRR, NPV, and payback analysis
  • Proven experience in cost accounting
  • Experience with Adaptive Insights, Tableau, PowerQuery, PowerBI, and/or SQL a plus
  • Willingness and ability to reset priorities if business circumstances require
