Life and Neuroscience Sales Specialist

Position Summary

The Life and Neuroscience Sales Specialist is responsible for managing new and existing accounts. Performs sales and service functions for targeted Life and Neuroscience markets and programs. This includes balancing job assignments, providing support to ensure timely, safe, and quality completion of jobs, monitoring issues, and ensuring production targets, Key Performance Indicators (KPIs), and quality standards are met.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

General and Task Management

  • Contact current and prospective customers to sell and explain equipment and services
  • Initiate contact and follow-up with customers to resolve problems, collect payment or missing information, and answer questions, correspondence
  • Prepare, process, review and monitor various documents
  • Provide initial support for systems and software (technical support)
  • Performs in a manner that will prevent errors and omissions

Relationship Management

  • Interface with Production Scheduling to determine schedules for shift production
  • Liaise and communicate effectively with customers and other departments

Minimum Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities)

Required Education/Licenses/Certification

  • Four (4) Year College Degree
  • Must maintain a valid driver's license and the ability to meet company insurance requirements at all times throughout employment

Preferred Education

  • Four (4) year Degree in Electrical/Computer and/or Neuroscience

Required Experience

  • Basic Word, Excel and PowerPoint experience

Marketing Manager

Lafayette Instrument is a global organization headquartered in Lafayette, Indiana with offices near Leicester, England and Kingston, Ontario focused on Life Sciences and data acquisition systems. The Marketing Manager position would ideally be based in our offices in Lafayette, IN but could also be based at one of our other locations, as well as hybrid/remote applicants.

Lafayette Instrument is seeking a web and social-savvy Marketing Manager to help set and implement strategic Marketing objectives for a global organization focused on cutting-edge instrumentation for life sciences, polygraph and medical device industries. You will help set, implement, and drive the strategic Marketing objectives, and lead a small team of marketing professionals as well as external partners. Solid design skills, basic web development skills, and experience with contemporary Marketing tools and methodologies are required.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • As a member of the company leadership team, the marketing manager will lead strategy and execution for all core product marketing efforts.
  • Manage and deliver multi-channel marketing and communications campaigns with the input of multiple stakeholders and use of relevant marketing platforms to achieve company marketing goals, with an emphasis on:
    • Increasing brand awareness for Lafayette Instrument, Campden Instruments, Limestone Technologies, and other key brands.
    • Lead generation from digital and traditional marketing campaigns and events.
  • Collaborate with the client-facing team (sales, product management, technical support) and other functional managers to evolve marketing strategy and tactical planning in order to maximize lead generation - creating tailored campaigns around their existing clients and specific prospects and projects.
  • Identify opportunities, develop the annual strategy and manage the execution and development of the following:
    • Technical content marketing and educational materials
    • Email marketing
    • Campaigns and promotions
    • Tradeshows, conferences, and seminars
    • Communication items (newsletters, blogs, press releases, social media)
  • Plan and implement compelling product launches consisting of a mix of internal training, events, outbound marketing, and other sales enablement tools to demonstrate multiple channels effectively.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders to ensure content marketing and campaigns align with product positioning and will support the launch and life cycle of each product.
  • Identify industry, market and competitor trends and share these insights with colleagues across the business.
  • Assist with the development of pricing structures, customer profiles (buyer personas), SWOT analysis, and competitor analysis for Lafayette and its subsidiaries.

Product Positioning and Development

  • In collaboration with product managers, drive execution of product positioning for existing products as well as new launches, crafting and owning the vision of Lafayette Instrument as the market's premier Life Sciences provider.
  • Develop and execute the social strategy for all markets to gain further awareness and acceptance of our products and services.
  • Develop and execute a search engine and ad optimization strategy for all markets to gain further awareness and acceptance of our products and services.

Voice of the Customer

  • Lead the development of customer-centric collateral and tools that create a positive experience for prospects, applying deep expertise in life science product purchasing patterns, buyers' needs, and the sales cycle.
  • Conduct and support formal and informal market research to distill our buyers' and customers' deepest challenges and needs.
  • Serve as an internal advocate for our customers' interests, informing the product strategy, sales strategy, and full-funnel marketing campaigns.

Competitive Analysis

  • Develop and maintain a detailed understanding of market trends and customer needs in the core life science market.
  • Develop and maintain detailed competitor analysis in the core life science market.
  • Review analytics to gain a deeper understanding of where marketing and communication items are succeeding and where improvements can be made.


  • Manage the internal and external teams responsible for marketing across Lafayette and its subsidiaries.
  • One direct report, as well as shared resources from subsidiaries.
  • Oversee individual team members' performance and career development.
  • Responsibility for tracking, measuring and reporting budget spend.
  • Minimum Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities)

Required Education/Licenses/Certification

  • Bachelor's degree (or equivalent area of study or experience); marketing focus preferred.
  • 4+ years of experience in marketing - ideally in a B2B or professional services environment.
  • Valid Driver's License. Must meet the minimum qualifications of the company's insurance carrier at all times.

Preferred Experience

  • Experience in the life sciences industry would be advantageous.
  • Medical Device or other regulated manufacturing experience.
  • Experience with CRM, funnel management, social media platforms, and Google Analytics.
  • Experience with SEO and SEM campaigns.
  • Tradeshow and event coordination experience.
